This article aims to clear up any questions you may have when considering a trip into the desert by providing you with an idea of what a potential Wadi Rum itinerary looks like. Your time in Wadi Rum is fully customisable, and your bedouins are happy to meet your needs, however if you are in a position where you don’t know what to do, this article may be of help.

Before You Arrive

There are a few important things all visitors to Wadi Rum must be aware of before arrival:

  • You must book your stay in advance (book here)
  • You must bring cash to pay for your stay (there are no ATMs in Wadi Rum)
  • All visitors to Wadi Rum must enter the Visitors Centre beforehand, where you will get your ticket. Tickets are free if you have the Jordan Pass, or 5JD per person for non-pass holders

A 2 Day Wadi Rum Itinerary

This Wadi Rum itinerary is a popular choice for first-time visitors, offering a taste of the desert’s iconic sights and cultural experiences. However, keep in mind that See Wadi Rum caters to all types of adventurers, so feel free to adjust the itinerary to match your interests.

Day 1: Arrival, Full Day 4×4 Tour and Overnight in the Camp

  • Morning Arrival (9:00 AM): After collecting your entry ticket from the Visitor Center, park your car in the designated free car park located on your first right as you enter the village.
  • Meet Your Bedouin Guide: Your friendly See Wadi Rum guide will greet you and assist you with transferring your luggage to their comfortable 4×4 Jeep.
  • Desert Exploration Begins: Embark on a thrilling full-day 4×4 tour, venturing deep into the heart of Wadi Rum. Your first stop will be the Nabataean Temple, a 2000 year old temple that was used by the Nabataeans to worship their goddess. Have a look at the full jeep tour itinerary here.
  • Lunchtime Break (1:00 PM): Your Bedouin guide will prepare you a lunch, which is included in the tour price.
  • Exploring Continues (2:00 PM): The afternoon offers further exploration of hidden canyons, towering rock bridges, and ancient inscriptions etched into the cliffs.
  • Sunset Spectacle (6:00 PM): As the day draws to a close, we will find a scenic spot to witness the mesmerising desert sunset. While you soak in the vibrant colours, your guide will prepare a traditional Bedouin tea for you to enjoy.
  • Welcome to the Camp (7:30 PM): After the captivating sunset, your guide will take you to the comfortable desert camp, where you’ll be greeted with warm hospitality. Indulge in a traditional Bedouin dinner under a blanket of stars.
  • Evenings Under the Stars: Gather around a crackling campfire with your fellow travellers and Bedouin hosts. Share stories, stargaze at the Milky Way, and experience the magic of the desert night. Retire to your cozy, traditional tent for a restful night’s sleep.

Day 2: Camel Ride, Breakfast and Departure

  • Sunrise Camel Ride: Waking up early, you take a camel to a viewpoint to watch the sunrise
  • Breakfast (8:00 AM): Afterwards, you return to camp to have breakfast with the bedouin
  • Departing Wadi Rum (9:00 AM): And finally, you are driven from the camp back to the Wadi Rum Village, where you will depart
